Who Can Enter the STPI Apprentice Programme?
The notification separates the educational requirement into two broad qualification groups. Candidates should identify the group applicable to their degree before proceeding with registration.
Technical Degree Group
Applicants possessing a B.E. or B.Tech degree in any of the following disciplines can be considered:
-
Electronics
-
Electrical / Electrical Engineering

The second category covers candidates with a Bachelor's degree in fields such as:

Other disciplines covered by the notification
A key condition applies to both groups: the candidate must have completed the qualifying Degree/Diploma in June 2021 or later.
One Previous Apprenticeship Can Affect Eligibility

Therefore, qualification alone is not enough. Candidates should also check their previous apprenticeship history before beginning the application process.

The applicable stipend is facilitated through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. For this purpose, successful registration on the NATS portal is required.
The Application Has Two Separate Online Steps
One of the most important points in this recruitment is that applicants cannot simply begin with the STPI form. The process starts on the NATS platform.
Step 1: Complete NATS Registration
Visit the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal and complete the student enrolment process. The registration requires personal, educational, communication and bank-related information.
After successful enrolment, the system generates a Student Enrolment ID. Keep this number available because it is required for the next stage.
Step 2: Submit the STPI Application
After obtaining the NATS enrolment ID, access the Career Section of the STPI website and complete the Apprentice Trainee application. The NATS enrolment ID must be entered in the STPI application module.
The final submission must be completed no later than 30 September 2026.
Application Sequence in Simple Terms
-
Open the NATS portal.
-
Register as a student and complete enrolment.
-
Enter your qualification, personal and bank information.
-
Obtain the NATS Student Enrolment ID.
-
Open the STPI website and go to the Career section.
-
Select the Apprentice Trainee application.
-
Enter the NATS enrolment information requested by STPI.
-
Review the submitted information carefully.
-
Complete the STPI online application before the closing date.
What Happens After Applications Are Submitted?
There is no written examination specified for this Apprentice Trainee engagement.
STPI will shortlist candidates according to the availability of apprenticeships in the relevant disciplines, with the selection based on performance in the interview. Reservation provisions will be followed according to Government of India rules.
This means applicants should prepare not only their educational records but also be ready to discuss their academic background, technical or subject knowledge, communication abilities and relevant interests during the interview.

-
Ensure that you have not already completed an apprenticeship with STPI or another organisation.

Why the NATS Registration Matters
The NATS registration is not an optional additional step in this recruitment. STPI specifically requires candidates to register on the NATS portal before applying through its own online system.
The NATS enrolment ID also forms part of the STPI application process. Candidates should therefore avoid leaving NATS registration until the final day, as any issue during enrolment could delay completion of the STPI form.
