Tamil Nadu has the highest number of vacancies in this recruitment drive, with 100 Local Bank Officer positions. Candidates applying for Tamil Nadu vacancies must have proficiency in Tamil.
2. Karnataka – 50 Posts

IOB Local Bank Officer Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates interested in the Local Bank Officer position must satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed by Indian Overseas Bank. The main requirements relate to nationality, age, educational qualification and proficiency in the local language of the State selected by the applicant.
Nationality
The recruitment is primarily open to Indian citizens. The notification also specifies certain other eligible categories, including subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, Tibetan refugees who entered India before 01 January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement, and certain persons of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries, subject to the conditions and eligibility certificate requirements mentioned by the Government of India.
Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
The candidate must have a valid mark sheet or degree certificate confirming graduation on the date of online registration. The percentage of marks obtained in graduation must also be entered in the online application form.
Age Limit
For the Local Bank Officer position, the prescribed age limit is 20 to 30 years. The age and educational qualification are reckoned with reference to 01 August 2026.
